Last day of Athi Varadhar
There was an overwhelming crowd for the past 47 days to see and get the blessings of Athi Varadhar at Kanchipuram. There were devotees from all over the world rushing towards Kanchipuram. People thronged Kanchipuram from all age groups, rich and poor, VIPs, men, and women. There were about more than whopping 1 crore people visited Athi Varadhar
From July 1 Athi Varadhar was giving blessings to the devotees in different decoration with different flowers and different silk dressings each and every day. Yesterday Athi Varadhar was decorated in rose-colored silk dressings.
There are plenty of steps being taken by the authorities in the Anandha Saras tank in which Athi Varadhar is to be immersed. 25000 liters of pure water is to be filled in the Anandha Saras tank. The purity of the water to be filled was tested by the pollution control board whether there
are no heavy metals and the residues of iron and chlorine and as safe as drinking water. The pH value has also been checked. These checking parameters were taken so that Athi Varadhar would not be of any damage through the water. Athi Varadhar was made up of (Athi Maram) fig. Athi in Tamil means fig. So the name Athi Varadhar.
Athi Varadhar is applied with sandhanathi thailam which was mixed with nutmeg, clove, vetiver, cardamom, sambrani and saffron is used as a preservative in order to safeguard from termites, microorganisms and fungus attack.
Athi Varadhar's head to be positioned on the west and foot on the east is to be rested in a sleeping position in the Anandhasaras tank. Small Naga stones to be placed on the shoulders, feet, and hip so that the wooden made idol does not float.
Note: It is really hard to feel that we can see Athi Varadhar only again on 2059. I wish all with good health and live long and to worship LORD ATHI VARADHAR again
